Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning onthe US thanksgiving holiday. Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers. Thanksgiving day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of Native people, the theft of Native lands, and the relentless assault on Native culture. Participants in National Day of Mourning honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today. It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection as well as a protest of the racism and oppression which Native Americans continue to experience.

The Project for the New American Century, or PNAC, is a Washington-based
think tank created in 1997. Above all else, PNAC desires and demands one
thing: The establishment of a global American empire to bend the will of
all nations. They chafe at the idea that the United States, the last
remaining superpower, does not do more by way of economic and military
force to bring the rest of the world under the umbrella of a new
socio-economic Pax Americana.

The fundamental essence of PNAC's ideology can be found in a White Paper
produced in September of 2000 entitled "Rebuilding America's Defenses:
Strategy, Forces and Resources for a New Century." In it, PNAC outlines
what is required of America to create the global empire they envision.
According to PNAC, America must:

* Reposition permanently based forces to Southern Europe, Southeast Asia
and the Middle East;

* Modernize U.S. forces, including enhancing our fighter aircraft,
submarine and surface fleet capabilities;

* Develop and deploy a global missile defense system, and develop a
strategic dominance of space;

* Control the "International Commons" of cyberspace;

* Increase defense spending to a minimum of 3.8 percent of gross domestic
product, up from the 3 percent currently spent.

Most ominously, this PNAC document described four "Core Missions" for the
American military. The two central requirements are for American forces to
"fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous major theater wars," and
to "perform the 'constabulary' duties associated with shaping the security
environment in critical regions." Note well that PNAC does not want America
to be prepared to fight simultaneous major wars. That is old school. In
order to bring this plan to fruition, the military must fight these wars
one way or the other to establish American dominance for all to see.

Bush Seeks OK for Domestic Surveillance Program

Following the election of a Democratic Congress last week, President Bush said that the current Congress, still under the control of the Republicans, should try to pass legislation that would ratify his domestic surveillance program before adjourning later this year. That program is facing legal challenges in courts across the United States. The legislation that the President favors would prevent traditional federal judges from considering whether the domestic surveillance program violates the Constitution or federal privacy laws. It would also establish a new immunity provision for telephone companies that would allow them to disclose confidential information about their customers to the federal government without legal authority. Several bills are under consideration in the Senate, and one bill has passed the House. Congress goes on recess this week and is expected to return to Washington on December 5. The first session of the new Congress is scheduled to begin on January 4, 2007.

Clarke, who served as a senior White House counterterrorism official under three successive presidents, wrote to national security adviser Condoleezza Rice on Sept. 4, 2001, urging “policymakers to imagine a day after a terrorist attack, with hundreds of Americans dead at home and abroad, and ask themselves what they could have done earlier. Still no meeting with Rice. Why? All those things. Now add the most sinister thing of them all. The President of the United States of America who’s schedule is published that he will be at a school on the morning of 911 walks into the school AFTER the first plane hit. He knows this and yet, as the most important man in the world, not knowing yet if our country is under attack, proceeds to his photo op with the children. While with the children, Bush is then told that the 2nd plane hit and that “the US is under attack”. He is not whisked away to a safe location. He is not removed from the building. His location has been publicized, yet he sits there – for over 5 more minutes. “The US is under attack”. The President of the United States is not removed. He is not worried and neither is the Secret Service. So not worried that he holds a brief press conference still at the school 20 minutes later. He knew something was going to happen and he did nothing so he could further is war he was planning since before he took office – to invade Iraq. 911 could help him achieve this.

The coup d'état that overthrew Queen Lili'uokalani was orchestrated primarily by European and American businessmen, many of whom were part of the Hawaiian Kingdom government. They had effectively removed power from the monarchy before then, see Hawai'i for more, but the last Hawaiian monarch was deposed on January 17, 1893. In the years after the overthrow when Hawaii became a territory of the United States, some of the royal family, most notably Prince Jonah Kuhio, worked within the Republican Party. The Prince would serve as delegate to Congress from 1902-1920. The coup itself was relatively bloodless, and the Republic of Hawai'i was declared in 1894 after immediate annexation was thwarted by a friend of Liliuokalani, President Grover Cleveland.

The traumatic events that occurred was the arrival of Capt. James Cook in 1778 which brought all the deceases known to western man and disseminated our people by the hundreds of thousands. The 2nd was the arrival of the Missionaries in 1820, to do exactly what the host Kelly Hu said, "They came here to do good, instead they did well".

Missionaries who left the ministry saw how bountiful this land was. In the name of Christianity, they became advisors to the Kings and Queens of Hawaii and changed laws to allow the acquisition of Hawaiian land. Not being satisfied with controlling the land, with the help of U.S. troops, took over the Hawaiian Islands in 1893 as what is known as the "Overthrow". It should have been known as a Terrorist Attack on a friendly nation. The events were as traumatic to us as the 911 attack on America and like the attack, has far reaching effects, even a hundred plus years later. The illegal Overthrow of Hawaii, reeks of terrorism in the literally sense of the word. Do events of what happened to our Queen and the Hawaiian Kingdom sound similar? American troops land on Hawaiian soil uninvited, take over the royal palace, hold the residence of Honolulu hostage, recognize a coup d'etat, made up of American citizens, and descendants of the first missionaries, then imprison the Queen and arrest her followers. And yet, Queen Liliuokalani did not have weapons of mass destruction. She only had ALOHA for her fellow man.

The Petition circulated by the Hawaiian people did contain 98% percent of all the Hawaiians living in Hawaii signing the petition against the Annexation. As far as the Statehood Act, America accepted Hawaii with tainted title. Missionary descendants, American Business men and others gave Hawaii to America, they not the true owners of the land. No vote or plebiscite was taken from the Kanaka Maoli people in the Statehood Act, everyone that lived in Hawaii voted for Statehood. The question is are we better off as Kanaka Maoli today because of the Statehood Act?

The way every other civilized nation fights terrorism is with special prosecutors and tactical police squads to make arrests. The President of the United States of America who’s schedule is published that he will be at a school on the morning of 911 walks into the school AFTER the first plane hit. He knows this and yet, as the most important man in the world, not knowing yet if our country is under attack, proceeds to his photo op with the children. While with the children, Bush is then told that the 2nd plane hit and that “the US is under attack”. He is not whisked away to a safe location. He is not removed from the building. His location has been publicized, yet he sits there – for over 5 more minutes. “The US is under attack”. The President of the United States is not removed. He is not worried and neither is the Secret Service. So not worried that he holds a brief press conference still at the school 20 minutes later. He knew something was going to happen and he did nothing so he could further is war he was planning since before he took office – to invade Iraq. 911 could help him achieve this. And he did it all by himself. As a matter of fact, my favorite Election Day moment occurred at the very end of the process, when newly elected Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill slyly thanked Limbaugh for his role in her victory. Yes, revenge was sweet for the Democrats. And why not? Limbaugh had delighted in kicking sand in their faces for years, luxuriating in the GOP’s dominance in national politics. In contrast to Limbaugh’s trademark, piercing proclamations, McCaskill made her remark while flashing a big, triumphant smile. But she clearly relished in twisting the knife. Fair enough. Limbaugh went too far when he blasted actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, on the eve of the midterm elections. One view is that all’s fair in politics, and Fox had put himself in the public arena by becoming a spokesman for the pro-stem cell research faction. But everyone deserves to be treated with respect and compassion. Whether Limbaugh was guilty of bad manners or bad politics, it didn’t matter. And even when he explained his remarks afterward, his comments had a hollow ring. In hindsight, it would have been wise for Limbaugh to leave Fox alone, especially after Fox shook violently during television commercials. But Limbaugh couldn’t do that.
